Feature and exposure controls

Configure Valheim WebMap.

The generated BepInEx configuration contains server-wide feature switches. Disabling a feature removes its data or action and its matching browser controls after the server restarts.

Stop the server first

Always stop the dedicated server before editing the generated configuration. Changes made while it runs can be lost on shutdown.

Global feature switches

Most switches below default to true. Browser teleport is the exception: it defaults to false and must be enabled deliberately. Save the file and restart the server after changing a switch.

Teleport is opt-in

browser_teleport defaults to false. It remains unavailable unless the server operator explicitly enables it, player data is enabled, and the browser session is authenticated for editing.

Additional controls

allow_browser_pin_edits and browser_edit_password

Browser map editing defaults to disabled. The server operator must set allow_browser_pin_edits to true and configure a non-empty, unique browser_edit_password. Leaving either boundary incomplete keeps browser editing unavailable.

portal_notification_delay_seconds

Defaults to 10. A portal notification updates if its in-game tag changes after the initial message.

crypt_visibility

Defaults to PlacedOnly. Use Off to disable crypt discovery entirely. Use All to include planned crypt locations in unexplored zones; All is intentionally a spoiler setting.

Exposure effects

  • chat, players, and player_details affect live player or communication data shown to browser viewers.
  • Player markers still depend on each player's visible to other players setting.
  • Editing and marker creation require explicit server configuration and a non-empty browser-edit password. Browser teleport is separately opt-in.
  • The inspected implementation does not establish authentication for all normal viewing.
  • Feature switches reduce what the browser receives; they do not replace a deliberate network, encryption, and access-control boundary.

Chat-created pins

Players can use normal, whisper, or shout chat. The server returns a success or error message for recognized commands.

  • !pin places an unlabeled dot pin at the player's current location.
  • !pin my pin name places a labeled dot pin.
  • !pin [pin-type] [text] accepts dot, fire, mine, house, cave, or boat.
  • !undoPin deletes the player's most recent pin.
  • !deletePin [text] deletes the player's most recent pin with that exact label. With no text, it deletes the most recent unlabeled pin.

Labels are limited to 20 ASCII letters, numbers, and spaces. Repeated whitespace is collapsed, punctuation is removed, command names and pin types are case-insensitive, and label matching is case-sensitive. Set max_pins_per_user to 0 to disable new chat-created pins.
